Did the angels object to Adam being appointed as vicegerent upon the earth?🌍

🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻 Regarding the meaning of: “And when your Lord said to the angels: Indeed, I will place upon the earth a vicegerent.” Imam Al-Ghazālī explains that this vicegerency is not a deputation on behalf of an absent sovereign — exalted is God above absence — but rather a representation of the Divine command upon the earth: through the establishment of justice, the execution of rightful judgment, and the cultivation of the cosmos. When the angels said: “Will You place therein one who will cause corruption and shed blood, while we glorify You with praise and sanctify You?” Since the jinn had inhabited the earth before the creation of Adam — spreading corruption and shedding blood — their question was an inquiry into Divine wisdom, not an objection to God. As Ibn Kathīr states: “It was merely a question seeking understanding and uncovering the wisdom behind this — as if to say: Our Lord, what is the wisdom in creating those who may spread corruption and shed blood upon the earth? If the intended purpose is Your worship, then we glorify You with praise and sanctify You — and nothing of that proceeds from us — so why not suffice with us alone?” So God replied: “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.” That is: within this creature lies knowledge, gnosis of God, and the capacity to ascend through the درجات of nearness — all of which outweigh the corruption that may arise from him. 🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺🔺
