Imam Abū Ḥāmid al-Ghazālī — may Allah have mercy on him — said:
“Guidance is a light that Allah, Exalted is He, casts into the heart; the chest opens to it, the heart finds tranquility in it, and the limbs follow it in obedience. Guidance is not attained through the abundance of knowledge nor sharpness of intellect; rather, it is a divine granting from Allah, which He bestows upon whom He wills of His servants.”
“And the guided one is not the one who merely knows the truth with his tongue, but the one in whose heart the truth has settled, becoming a light that guides him amid doubts and a strength that carries him through desires.”

Shaykh al-Saʿdī 🗯️
— may Allah have mercy on him — said regarding 🔰Those are upon guidance”:
He used the preposition “ʿalā (upon)”, which indicates elevation and ascendancy; whereas in the case of misguidance, He uses “fī (in)”, as in His saying:
“And indeed, either we or you are upon guidance or in manifest misguidance.”
This is because the one upon guidance is elevated and raised by guidance, while the one in misguidance is immersed in it and abased.
